SPRING VALLEY - Rep. Nita Lowey announced a nearly $5 million grant for Head Start of Rockland County today.

The money restored a 5 percent cut due to sequestration, and provided an additional $640,000. The executive director of the program says it helps low-income families in the area improve their children's early education.

Head Start provides early childhood education programs for 1,000 low-income children in the county.
