Putnam County DA Adam Levy racks up legal bills

PUTNAM VALLEY - The lawyer for Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy says his client has spent at least $30,000 to defend his friend in a child-rape case.

High-profile attorney Michael Sussman says Levy, the son of TV's Judge Judy, has come under attack since he's been helping Alexandru Hossu, his former live-in trainer. Hossu is accused of twice raping a 13-year-old girl.

Levy has recused himself from the case, but is paying Hossu's legal fees.

Levy's close involvement has led several area lawmakers to call for either an independent investigation or his resignation. Levy maintains he's done nothing wrong.

The Westchester DA's office is prosecuting the case against Hossu.
