YONKERS - Putnam County has launched a new app in response to the growing heroin epidemic in the Hudson Valley.

The app, called "Putnam County Cares," gives people easy access to information about addiction and recovery. Putnam County officials say they want to make sure residents can find the resources they need before it's too late.

In addition, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department is currently learning how to use a heroin overdose antidote. Officials say they hope local police departments will be trained to use the antidote, as well.
