MONROE - Electricity is back on Sunday afternoon for the thousands of customers on the western side of the Hudson who lost power earlier.

Orange & Rockland Utilities representatives say 3,600 customers lost electricity due to a squirrel getting into a transformer at a substation Sunday morning.

Many customers in Monroe also lost power on Thursday, and they tell News 12 that power outages have become a growing problem.

Orange & Rockland Utilities representatives say most of their customers affected by Sunday's outage have had their power restored.
