Westchester County residents gathered Thursday to honor fallen police officers and those who saved lives in observance of Police Officers' Memorial Day and Police Week.

Tarrytown Police Officer Sonia Hennessey was honored for saving the life of a driver following a fiery car crash last September.

WHITE PLAINS - Westchester County residents gathered Thursday to honor fallen police officers and those who saved lives in observance of Police Officers' Memorial Day and Police Week.

A total of 23 law enforcement officers received special recognition in a ceremony held at County Center.

Tarrytown Police Officer Sonia Hennessey was honored for saving the life of a driver following a fiery car crash last September.

The ceremony also remembered the 83 Westchester County law enforcement officers who've died in the line of duty, dating as far back as the 1700s.
