WHITE PLAINS - Westchester County residents gathered Thursday to honor fallen police officers and those who saved lives in observance of Police Officers' Memorial Day and Police Week.

A total of 23 law enforcement officers received special recognition in a ceremony held at County Center.

Tarrytown Police Officer Sonia Hennessey was honored for saving the life of a driver following a fiery car crash last September.

The ceremony also remembered the 83 Westchester County law enforcement officers who've died in the line of duty, dating as far back as the 1700s.
