NEWBURGH? - Police believe a money dispute was the cause of a murder-suicide in Newburgh that left two women dead and a man injured.

Rebecca Winters, 36, allegedly attacked 61-year-old Bruce Montanya in his trailer Saturday evening, stabbing him multiple times before stabbing his roommate, 78-year-old Bertha Williams. Williams escaped the trailer and was found dead on their neighbor's front steps. Montanya also fled and was found in a pool of blood on the side of the road by a motorist.

Witnesses say Winters then went back inside the trailer and killed herself with Montanya's shotgun. Montanya was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.

Police are also investigating whether heroin was a factor in the attack.
