PORT CHESTER - A multi-vehicle accident on I-95 has left one person dead, three others injured and a driver facing DWI charges.
Police say the accident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near exit 21 in Port Chester, near the Connecticut border. Police say a Honda Accord rear-ended a State Thruway Authority truck, causing the truck to flip over.
The Honda was carrying three men from Norwalk. The front-seat passenger, 24-year-old Kelman Villa Santos, was declared dead on the scene. The driver, 24-year-old Jose Ramirez, is facing DWI charges. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The rear-seat passenger, 22-year-old Emanuel Gonzalez, was taken to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The name of the truck driver has not been released, but authorities say he is a 53-year-old White Plains resident. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
All northbound lanes were closed for most of the morning commute. Two lanes of the busy highway reopened at around 8 a.m., and all lanes and ramps were cleared just after 9 a.m.
