POUGHKEEPSIE - Police are investigating the death of an elderly woman in Poughkeepsie that occurred Wednesday morning as a homicide.

Investigators say 99-year-old Fannie Gumbinger was found inside her house by a home health aide.

An autopsy performed by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner revealed that she suffered multiple injuries. 

Poughkeepsie police are not releasing many details about what they think might have happened, but they are looking into a possible connection to a burglary at a nearby house.

Police are urging anyone who may have information on Gumbinger's death to contact them.
