Police: Christopher Montalvo dies at Orange Regional Medical Center after nearly drowning in Delaware River
PORT JERVIS - Police say 29-year-old Christopher Montalvo, of Middletown, died overnight after being rescued from drowning the day before.
Authorities say Montalvo was swimming with his friends in the Delaware River when he slipped underwater.
Police say Montalvo had been underwater for at least 10 minutes when he was pulled up by emergency crews. Officials say the emergency crews were able to revive him, but that he never regained consciousness.

Montalvo's wife says his heart stopped beating at around 4 a.m. Wednesday as she and other family members sat beside him in the hospital.
Family says Montalvo was a fun-loving devoted father of two who had celebrated his birthday last week.
Wake services will be held for Montalvo at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown Friday. His funeral will also be held there on Saturday.
Police say he was not wearing a life jacket.
