Police: 10-year-old girl sexually abused at Palisades Mall

WEST NYACK - Police say a 10-year-old girl was sexually abused at the Palisades Mall in West Nyack last month.

Clarkstown police say a man approached the girl seated on a bench near Barnes & Noble bookstore and performed a lewd act right next to her on Dec. 26.

The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s, over 200 pounds, with a full beard and mustache. Police say the suspect may have taken off in a light green van with out-of-state license plates.

They also believe the suspect is connected to a similar incident that happened at the mall on Dec. 21, involving an 8-year-old girl at Bed Bath and Beyond.

A Barnes & Noble spokesperson says they turned over surveillance video to police and have taken extra security measures to ensure customer safety.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clarkstown police at 845-639-5800.
