YONKERS - With the threat of storms comes the usual threat of flooding, and one usual trouble spot is the Bronx River Parkway.

Now, the county executive wants to allocate $1.25 million to stabilize some 750 feet of the riverbank in an effort to prevent future flooding problems.

Parts of the roadway often flood so much, they have to be shut down. One of those trouble spots is just south of the Harney Road bridge.

Also on the agenda is restoring nine acres of floodplain in Saxon Woods Park in parts of Mamaroneck and Harrison. That will cost another $600,000.

The proposal is now in front of the county Board of Legislators. A final vote on the project may be scheduled as soon as March 10.
