The last text received from Devert was written on Jan. 25 at 3:18 p.m. It said that there was "crazy military stuff" going on and that Devert would write soon.

His mother, Ann Devert, believes her son may have been forced to take detours through small towns and dirt roads.  She thinks he may be somewhere where he can't communicate.

Family members have contacted the State Department, which is working with Mexican authorities to search hospitals, airports and prisons.

Friends have also set up a Facebook and Twitter page to help locate the 32-year-old.
