Witnesses tell News 12 the man was crossing Nepperhan Avenue when he was hit.

YONKERS - A pedestrian is recovering today after being struck by a Yonkers police cruiser.

Witnesses tell News 12 the man was crossing Nepperhan Avenue at the intersection of Lake Avenue just after 9 p.m. yesterday when he was hit.

The victim was taken to Westchester Medical Center and is reportedly in critical condition.

The intersection was shut down for a couple of hours as the Yonkers Accident Investigation Squad took charge of the scene. A police cruiser with a shattered front windshield was in the middle of the intersection.
