POINT PLEASANT BEACH - Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire at a New Jersey motel that killed four people.

The fire broke out at Mariner's Cove Motor Inn at around 5:30 a.m in Point Pleasant Beach Friday. Firefighter dispatch recordings show the urgency of the fight against the intense flames.

The victims who were killed in the fire were all adult males, according to police. Their identities have not yet been released. Eight others were injured, some critically.

Authorities say about 40 people were staying at the motel. Some guests are victims of Superstorm Sandy who were living there after being displaced by the storm.

Guests could be seen jumping from balconies in an attempt to save themselves. One says she stayed in her shower until firefighters rescued her.

The South Jersey Red Cross is assisting some of the victims of the fire.
