Officer Vescio saves life of 69-year-old man in White Plains Mobil gas station crash fire

WHITE PLAINS - An off-duty officer is being recognized as a hero after he saved the life of a man who crashed into a Mobil gas station in White Plains last Thursday, resulting in a fire.

John Vescio, a senior investigator with the New York State Police, stopped at a Mobil Gas station last Thursday on the Hutchinson River Parkway while off-duty when a car slammed into the pumps and hit several other cars including his own.

The driver, a 69-year-old man, apparently blacked out when the incident took place as captured on a security camera. Vescio pulled the driver from the car as flames began to spread and was able to save his life.
