NY GOP convention kicks off Wednesday in Rye Brook, Rob Astorino to accept party's nomination for governor
RYE BROOK - Hundreds of New York Republicans will be in Rye Brook Wednesday for the state's Republican Convention, the same day President Barack Obama will be speaking at the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Convention attendees hope they'll be able to bring attention to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino (R), who is running for governor, despite the president's presence in Westchester.
Astorino campaign advisor Tony Sayegh says the county executive wasn't invited to Obama's speech Wednesday, despite the fact that the Tappan Zee plays such an important role in Westchester. He also adds he isn't afraid of Obama cutting into the Republicans' big week.
