New Rochelle teen charged with assault after breaking student’s jaw at soccer game

NEW ROCHELLE - A New Rochelle player has been charged with assault after a fight at a soccer game.

The incident occurred during a game with the New Rochelle Hugenots and the White Plains Tigers.

The game between the two schools had a minute left in the first half when players started scuffling after a hard foul.

Police say Stefedson Dieudonne, 17, threw a punch that sent Ozzie Escobedo to the hospital with a broken jaw. Both benches emptied, but no other punches were thrown.

Police were called to the scene, and the rest of the game was canceled.

The varsity and JV girls soccer games between the two schools, scheduled for today, have also been canceled.
