NEW ROCHELLE - Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at a New Rochelle apartment building Friday.

Fire officials say the flames broke out at a complex at 247 Drake Ave. just after 11 a.m.

Crews say the fire started in a first-floor apartment and spread to the apartment above. They were able to contain the damage to those two apartments.

Fire marshals are still investigating, but say they think the fire was accidental. The Red Cross was on the scene helping displaced residents.

No residents were injured, but a firefighter was brought to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
