MUST SEE VIDEO: Wrong-way driver on I-87

An elderly Spring Valley man has been evaluated at a hospital after police say he was driving the wrong way on the New York State

TUXEDO - An elderly Spring Valley man has been evaluated at a hospital after police say he was driving the wrong way on the New York State Thruway.

Cellphone video obtained by News 12 shows a driver traveling about 8 miles northbound in the southbound lanes of I-87. Police say Joseph Dorcely, 80, had been behind the wheel all day yesterday trying to find his way back to his Spring Valley home. A state trooper saw Dorcerly and was able to get him to stop near Tuxedo.

There were no injuries, but the cellphone video shows a number of accidents were narrowly averted.

Dorcerly's son Jean says his father suffers from the early stages of dementia and hasn't been allowed to drive alone for months.
