Mount Vernon mother pleads guilty in death of baby

A Mount Vernon mother faces up to 25 years in prison for the death of her baby daughter. Deasia Bartee, 27, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

MOUNT VERNON - A Mount Vernon mother faces up to 25 years in prison for the death of her baby daughter.

Deasia Bartee, 27, pleaded guilty to manslaughter. She admitted to repeatedly hitting 14-month-old Samia Yusuf in the back last August, causing internal bleeding and a spine fracture.

Police say they found the baby unresponsive inside the family's home on Washington Street.

Bartee will be sentenced next month.
