More than 60 cars broken into, vandalized in Yonkers
YONKERS - At least 60 cars were vandalized in southeast Yonkers this week.
Investigators say the break-ins happened sometime Tuesday night. Midland Avenue by Bronxville Road in Yonkers was covered with smashed car windows, shattered glass and broken side-view mirrors.
Police say valuables like GPS devices were left behind, leading them to believe the vandals were looking for spare valet keys that drivers sometimes leave in glove compartments.

By Thursday, police say extra patrols were added to the area. Neighbors who have long complained about their streets being too dark say the city has also installed brighter lights.
