MONTGOMERY - A Montgomery man is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a standoff with police Monday afternoon.

Heavily armed responders from the township, state police and the Orange County Sheriff's Department surrounded the home after receiving a 911 call about an emotionally disturbed person on Beaver Dam Road.

When they got there, the man ran back into the house before firing off one shot. Police say they heard another gunshot inside the home and found the homeowner, 63-year-old Jeremy Green, dead inside.

Police are investigating what caused the incident.
