WALLKILL - A domestic dispute apparently turned into a murder-suicide overnight in Orange County.

State police say they were called at around 11 p.m. to the scene at 38 Anthony St. in Wallkill. When officers arrived, they found the bodies of Michael W. Leroy, 49, and his wife, D'Ann Leroy, 46, inside the home.

Preliminary investigation says it appears Michael Leroy shot and killed his wife with a rifle during a domestic dispute and then shot and killed himself with the same weapon. The weapon was recovered at the scene.

Police say officers at the scene could smell gas and that there is a possibility Michael Leroy may have intended to cause an explosion. Police would not comment on what sparked the deadly dispute saying only that it's still under investigation.

Neighbors say the couple had been arguing loudly and often lately. "The only time you knew they were around was when they were arguing a lot. The last couple weeks they have been having problems with the cops stopping over there," says neighbor Merilee Waterman.
