Hundreds of people gathered Saturday in Mahopac to get messy for a very good cause.

It marked the fourth annual Muddy Puddles Mess Fest, which raises money for pediatric cancer research. Children and adults alike danced through the dirt, jumped in puddles and had an all-around blast for the cause.

Cindy and Louis Campbell started a foundation in honor of their son, Ty Campbell, who was almost 3 years old when doctors found a mass at the base of his skull. When he was very sick, his mother asked him what he wanted to do when he got better, he said he wanted to jump in muddy puddles.

Ty Campbell lost his battle against childhood cancer. After the loss of their boy, the Campbells now raise awareness about pediatric cancer and they started the Muddle Puddles Mess Fest as a day to help kids kick back and ditch the stresses of life.

The fun also included bouncing castles, kayaks, paddle boats and trampolines.
