PLATTEKILL - Two men were arrested at a farm in Plattekill as part of a massive cockfighting ring that was broken up in New York.

At the farm in Ulster County, thousands of roosters and hens were caged in crates with no heat. The ASPCA says most of them were hungry and dehydrated. Tim Rickey, from the ASPCA, says about 3,000 roosters and hens have been rescued from the farm and were taken to an undisclosed location to be cared for.

The raid was part of the criminal investigation called "Operation Angry Birds," organized by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. About 70 people have been taken into custody in what is the largest cockfighting raid in state history.
