MOUNT VERNON - A Bronx man has been arraigned on charges of second-degree murder and assault in connection with the Christmas morning shooting in a Mount Vernon nightclub.

Police say Errol Hillary, 39, of the Bronx, was arraigned Monday morning in Mount Vernon City Court.

Mount Vernon police say the shooting happened around 4:30a.m. inside Mansion Night Club, killing 36-year-old club owner O'Neil Bandoo.

Officials tell News 12 that Hillary was asked to leave the club after causing trouble. He allegedly returned and open fire, killing Randoo, a husband and father of six, and injuring five others.

Bandoo's father Brian Deaver described his son to News 12 as a hardworking family man, who often worked holidays to take care of his family.

"He had beautiful children, and he was raising them right," said Brian Deaver.  "He was doing a good job with them."

Bandoo's father-in-law, Bashon Reid, praised the victim, saying that Randoo was even able to help others during the shooting.

Officials said that this is not Hillary's first run-in with the law. He also faces attempted murder charges for a separate incident in the Bronx.

The suspect remains in County Jail, awaiting a felony hearing scheduled for Friday.

The five other victims injured in the shooting remain hospitalized.
