Mahopac High School mourns 19-year-old student David Diachenko, killed in crash at the school

MAHOPAC - Grief counselors are on hand at Mahopac High School to support students and staff members after a recent graduate was killed in a car crash at the school.

David Diachenko, 19, was killed after his 1990 BMW went over a fence and crashed into a wall in the school's science wing late Friday night. Three classrooms were damaged in the crash. 

Diachenko had graduated from the high school in January and school officials say he was considering joining the military. A moment of silence was held in his memory at the high school Monday morning.

Police are still investigating the accident and are awaiting information from toxicology reports and an accident reconstruction. They refused to comment on rumors that the crash may have been deliberate.
