Landlord in court as Oakwood Gardens tenants in Mount Vernon continue without heat
MOUNT VERNON - A landlord returned to court Monday as hundreds of tenants live without heat in a Mount Vernon apartment building on East Lincoln Avenue.
The landlord for Oakwood Gardens is blaming the problem on last week's deep freeze, which he says killed the heat and led to pipes breaking in several apartments.
The water was back on in the building as of Monday, and tenants say they now have hot water.

The landlord's lawyer told Judge Mark Gross that there was a plan to put space heaters in all apartments, but that the idea was scuttled by the fire department as too dangerous. A spokesman for the fire department says they know nothing about such a warning.
The landlord is set to appear in court again on Jan. 21.
