Jeep crashes into utility pole in Mamaroneck

MAMARONECK - A utility pole in Mamaroneck was snapped in half overnight by an out-of-control driver.

Police say they arrested a driver after he slammed into the pole on Harmon Drive around 2:30 a.m. today. They say his black Jeep jumped the curb, sliced through the pole, and went a few more feet until colliding into a parked car.

A portion of the broken pole ended up on a lawn while the other half was left dangling in the air after being caught by power wires. Con Edison crews hauled a new utility pole into the neighborhood early this morning.

There were no power outages reported in the neighborhood. No word if there were any injuries.
