YONKERS - People across the Hudson Valley are pausing to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is federal holiday created to celebrate the life and legacy of the civil rights pioneer.

Closures and schedule changes are in place for offices and mass transit today due to the holiday.

Schools, government offices, courts, post offices and financial markets are all closed for the day. Most banks are also closed, but some have the option of staying open

As far as transportation, Metro-North trains are on a Saturday timetable. Bee-Line buses in Westchester are on a Saturday schedule while Rockland TOR buses are operating on normal weekday schedule.
