YONKERS - Homeowners and brokers in Westchester and surrounding counties are hopeful that the housing market is finally on the mend.

According to a newly released report from the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, residential sales have jumped 20 percent over the past year.

Realtors say it is the best real estate market since 2007, the year before the recession.

In Westchester County, the median price of a $610,000 home is up about 4 percent.

In Rockland County, a home priced at $390,000 is up 2.6 percent.

However, Orange County saw a 2 percent decline to a $235,000 house.
