Hotel fees rise as travel increases nationwide
YONKERS - Fees are going up across the travel industry, which is now extending to hotels, due to more people traveling.
Over the past decade, hotel fees have risen almost every year, except during the recession. New charges include access to an in-room safe, Wi-Fi, and the option to check out early.
These charges are typically in effect at high-end hotels and resorts, but many mid-priced hotels are now adopting them.

Some experts say to be careful though, as some fees are mandatory. Be sure to look for hidden fees on the reservation confirmation or the hotel's website.
