High-speed chase across the Tappan Zee Bridge ends in crash

UPPER NYACK - A wild police chase across the Tappan Zee Bridge ended in a head-on crash at Nyack Beach State Park earlier today.

State police say a pursuit began in Westchester around 12:30 p.m. and continued across the bridge into Upper Nyack.

Witnesses tell News 12 the suspect tried to make a U-turn after going down a dead end, but crashed into an oncoming police cruiser. The suspect then fled into Hook Mountain. The suspect was caught after a short pursuit and taken into custody.

Both the suspect and two state troopers were brought to Nyack Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word yet why the suspect was wanted.
