Gunfire from an SUV hit a passenger in a car traveling on I-87 in Yonkers.

YONKERS - Police are searching for an SUV involved in a drive-by shooting on a busy highway in Yonkers.

State police say a car was traveling on northbound I-87 and onto the Yonkers Avenue exit when shots were fired at the car from another vehicle. Cops say the passenger in the car was hit and taken to a hospital. The 23-year-old man suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK while the driver of the car was not hurt.

Detectives tell News 12 that witnesses described the vehicle where the shots originated as an SUV.

Right now investigators are trying to determine the motive. They are also trying to find out if this was a random or a targeted act.
