YONKERS - People started up their grills to celebrate Independence Day.

Park officials say its been a slow start to the holiday weekend at V.E. Macy Park in Irvington because of recent storms.

Despite the recent wet weather and soggy field, park officials say nothing can hinder the patriotic plans of many residents planning to spend their holiday there.

One vistor tell News 12 that things are looking up weather-wise. "It feels great! Actually, the weather feels better then it's felt the last couple of days," says Barbara Colton.
