ELMSFORD - Funeral services were held today for the White Plains YMCA security guard who was allegedly murdered by a resident who then committed suicide.

Loved ones said goodbye to Michael Solomon, 68, at Our Lady of Carmel Church in Elmsford.

He was working early last Saturday morning when he was allegedly attacked by Idrissa Diop, 63, over a long-standing feud. He was apparently stabbed to death. Diop then went to his room where he set himself on fire, authorities say.

Michael Solomon lived in Elmsford and grew up in the African country of Eritrea. He served in the military there, but his cousin says he treasured his work in America.

Solomon leaves behind his wife of 24 years, a son and several brothers and sisters.
