HARRISON - Even though the Hudson Valley escaped the snowstorm, other parts of the country got hammered with snow and ice, affecting flights in the tri-state area.

Mid-Atlantic states were hit with up to 10 inches of snow and caused travel problems in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and other locations.

The storm is responsible for wreaking havoc on air travel across the U.S. with more than 2,000 flights canceled Monday. Flights in and out of Westchester County or Stewart airports suffered cancellations and delays.

Travelers told News 12 they were worried about canceled flights Monday, but it's just become part of the routine of traveling this winter. "It's been a nightmare. I've spent more than a couple of days here at this airport, all day long but it comes with the territory," said one weary traveler.

According to some reports, airlines have canceled a record number of more than 87,000 domestic flights since Dec. 1 due to the rough winter weather.
