PIERMONT - If you want to see a fireworks spectacular this New Year's Eve, just head down to your nearest Hudson River town.
The Rockland County Board of Tourism has announced that Piermont, Nyack and Haverstraw will host a simultaneous fireworks show this New Year's Eve.
Organizers hope the 45-minute spectacular will boost business in those villages hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. They're also hoping the event helps put Rockland on the map as a premier New Year's Eve destination. "We're the smallest county in the state, but we also have a really incredible waterfront. So this is something we thought up, I got the mayors together, they were all excited about it. It's a very unique thing, for a very unique county," says Rockland Tourism Director C.J. Miller.
The $15,000 cost of the fireworks has been paid for by a grant from the state tourism program "I Love New York."
