NEW WINDSOR - Firefighters battling a in New Windsor uncovered more than a dozen marijuana plants Tuesday

Authorities say the blaze happened at a multi-family house on Union Avenue around 11 a.m.

The homeowner lived in the side of the house where the pot plants were found. Officials say he was badly burned trying to go back inside the home and is in serious condition. "He was able to get himself out of the building, but he saw the smoke, went to investigate and when he opened the door got burned," says Vails Gate Fire Chief Chris Sweeney.

Two other people who were inside the home at the time of the fire but are OK.

No charges have currently been filed.
