Fire alarms scare shoppers at Palisades Mall

WEST NYACK - Blaring fire alarms and a blackout sent shoppers scrambling at the Palisades Mall this afternoon.

Transformer problems around 1 p.m. are being blamed for the outage and the ensuing fire alarms, which impacted 60 percent of the popular West Nyack mall.

A woman who works in the mall tells News 12 that employees and customers were confused and ran down escalators looking for the exit.

However, Clarkstown police say most shoppers left the mall in an orderly fashion and without any injuries.
