Fare and toll hikes approved by MTA board
Metro-North riders will pay around eight to nine percent more. (December 19, 2012)
YONKERS - The MTA approved sweeping fare and toll hikes at its monthly meeting this morning.
The board voted to raise fares across the board for Metro-North, rail and subway systems. Metro-North riders will pay around eight to nine percent more.
Base fares will go up by 25 cents for rides on city subways and buses, and a $1 green fee will be charged every time a rider gets a new MetroCard.
Changes will take effect March 1.
