PELHAM - The family of a Pelham man who's been missing in Mexico for three weeks believes he may have been kidnapped.

Harry Devert, 32, left in December on a motorcycle tour of Mexico. He was last heard from Jan. 25, when he sent a text message to his girlfriend, telling her he had a military escort through a dangerous region in southern Mexico. The region is known for violent drug cartels and kidnappings.

Authorities have checked morgues and hospitals in the area, and volunteers have searched the region, but there's been no sign of him. His bank account has had no activity and his phone is out of service. His mother, Ann, believes he's alive and may have been kidnapped.

"We believe he's alive and that's what gives us hope and moves us forward," says Ann.

Devert's family and friends have created a Facebook page and Twitter account to help in the search. An online petition has also been created, urging President Barack Obama to help when he visits Mexico later this week.
