POMONA - Dozens of county employees in Rockland County have learned that their jobs will be terminated in mid-April.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the county will shut down its inpatient mental health care unit and its crisis service center, as Nyack Hospital offers the same services.

Day says that state officials have mandated that they don't want county governments delivering mental health treatment.

The closure of the two programs is expected to bring a salary savings of about $1 million this year and $2 million in 2015.

The county executive says he is hopeful that half of the 96 workers who were terminated will be rehired by Nyack Hospital.
