Double shooting sends 2 teens to the hospital in Newburgh

NEWBURGH - There are still no arrests in a double shooting that sent two teens to the hospital over the weekend in Newburgh.

Police say shots were fired in an Ann Street parking lot after a Sweet 16 party on Saturday night. Police say a dispute began between two groups as the party wrapped up.

In the crossfire, a 17-year-old was shot in the neck and a 15-year-old was shot in the leg. The teen shot in the neck is expected to survive, and the other has been treated and released from the hospital.

Residents tell News 12 say the streets in Newburgh don't seem to be getting any safer. "It's getting worse. I don't see anything getting better. You don't really see it because it always happens at home or a night time or early morning stuff like that. Do you hear the gunshots at night? I hear it. I see it," says resident Sunny Brooks.

So far, no arrests have been made, and police are asking people to come forward with information.
