NEWBURGH - An Orange County man has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting two people at a Halloween party last year in Newburgh.

Prosecutors say Nija Johnson, 17, admitted that he intended to kill the person he'd had a fight with when he fired at least 10 shots at the party on North Broadway last October.

Innocent bystanders Omani Free, 18, and Tabitha Cruz, 20, were killed while five others were seriously injured. Following the shooting, Johnson was the subject of a multistate manhunt. He was finally arrested in Virginia.

Johnson could get 40 years to life in prison when he's sentenced in April.
