SPRING VALLEY - Over 1,000 people chanted "Yes we can" in Spanish and English as they marched through downtown Spring Valley Thursday to protest the Trump administration's immigration policies.

The demonstrators said they want to protect their children's future in this country.

In Ossining, Metro-North's taxi waiting area sat empty as local cab companies shut down for the day.

A handful of town restaurants also decided to join protesters by dimming their lights.

Other major cities joining New York in a "Day Without Immigrants" included Philadelphia, Washington, Boston, Houston and Chicago.
