David Stevenson, of Port Jervis, found not competent to stand trial in death of girlfriend
PORT JERVIS - A Port Jervis man accused of killing his girlfriend and setting fire to her home has been found not competent to stand trial.
David Stevenson, 38, faces charges of second-degree murder and arson after he allegedly killed his live-in girlfriend TyRochelle Haughton. Stevenson himself was badly burned in the fire and has been hospitalized for months.
Doctors say he's not competent to stand trial because he's been having trouble communicating with the defense. He will be held and treated at the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center until doctors determine he's competent.
