WHITE PLAINS - Daniel Forte, of Cortlandt Manor, has been given a sentence of 25 years to life in prison for the murder of a Greenburgh man.

Investigators say 26-year-old Forte and his friends were looking to buy a half-pound of marijuana last year near Oak and Warren avenues and asked the seller to weigh it.

That's when Kujtim Rushiti arrived with his friends and was shot in the neck by Forte. Both prosecutors and the defense say the victim was not involved in the drug deal and was an innocent bystander.

During his sentencing, Forte said he was deeply sorry for Rushiti's family's loss, but says he never pulled the trigger and the real killer is still out there.
