NEWBURGH - A reward is now being offered to help find the driver of a Newburgh hit-and-run victim.

New York State Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver who hit and killed Eric Geter, 32.

Police believe Geter was walking to work last Thursday along Walsh Avenue in New Windsor when he was hit by a car and thrown into Quassaick Creek. When he didn't show up for work as a machine operator at American Felt and Filter Company, his family was called and co-workers walked along his usual route to look for him.

Co-workers say they knew something was wrong when they found some of his belongings along the creek. Divers recovered his body that afternoon.

Geter was laid to rest this morning.
