YONKERS - A high-ranked source in Rockland County with inside knowledge of two far-reaching corruption probes says the investigations will impact some of the most recognizable faces in the county.

While U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is remaining tight-lipped on the news, there have been visible signs of trouble brewing for months, with multiple FBI raids being carried out and dozens of subpoenas being issued, including what one source describes as a busload of subpoenas at Clarkstown Town Hall.

News 12 is told that the probe involves much more than just the financing of Provident Bank Park in Pomona, and there is likely a separate corruption investigation that could have sparked from the collaborating witness testimony of two convicted Republicans -- former Clarkstown town attorney Jay Savino and former Rockland County Legislator Frank Sparaco.

Sparaco has deep ties to the controversial operator of Rockland's bus service, Richard Brega Jr., a top donor to big names like former Clarkstown Supervisor Alex Gromack, whose own ethics filings were subpoenaed last year.

Ramapo Town Councilman Sam Tress was arrested last week, accused of changing zoning on property on which he had a financial stake. There is no word yet on whether the aforementioned people are involved in the probe.

Sources tell News 12 that up to 50 indictments could be unsealed as early as next week.
